This single vehicle accident killed the driver when he lost
control of his 2004 Ford 4 door pickup and hit a statue of a Native American
erected to honor Eagle Scouts.
City employees witnessed the driver going the wrong way on Skyline Drive with excessive speed at about 8:30a.m. and heard the crash as the truck hit the statue and knocked it from its base.
Police are not sure why he left the roadway and said they may never know.
His body had to be cut from the wreckage as the impact pushed the dash, steering wheel and front seat up against the back seat and rear window.
