Flex-A-Lite
Variable Speed Control
I started having issues with the fan popping relays continually when the weather was really hot. Which is pretty much year around here. So I went ahead and installed the VSC from Flex-A-Lite which I got at JEGS.
I went by the instructions they send with it plus with THESE also. It was a simple install.
You will need to remove the battery if you do the install in the same place as mine.
The kit layed out.
I mounted mine on the drivers side front panal area. If you look to the left side of the pic, you will see the big thick solid green wire. It has the red wire tied to it already with a yellow clip. That is the ignition wire, so when you turn on the vehicle the fan gets the signal to turn on.
This just shows more wiring into the VSC. Once I soldered all the splices, i then put heat shrink on them.
Here is the final install pic. Battery back in place.
A nice feature on this is the delay on start up. It takes about 20 to 30 seconds after you start the vehicle for the VSC to kick on the fan. This is a less drain on the electrical system. Plus it only powers up to 60% until more cooling is needed.
So the D should warm up quicker in the Winter, as if we ever have them here.
Also, you can set the temp you want to fan to come on at and start cooling. It also runs for up to 30 seconds after engine is shut down to cool things down.
